摘要:Manipulating an atom and a molecule enables to design well-defined functional nanostructures. One of most promising and emerging nanostructures is “Single Crystalline Nanowire”. Especially, “Metal Oxide Nanowires” have tremendous functionalities including, superconductor, ferromagnetism, ferroelectric, memristor, photo-catalyst, transparent conductor, gas sensors and others, which cannot be attainable to conventional semiconductors such as Group VI and III-V compounds. Here I show i) a fundamental atomic level design concept for creating single crystalline oxide nanowires via vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) pathway, ii) a development to measure the physical properties of a “single” nanowire, including electrical and thermal transport properties, and iii) their novel nanodevice applications, including “Nanowire Memristor”, “Nanowire Thermoelectric Device”, “Nanowire Biomolecule Analysis Device” and “Nanowire Molecule Recognition Device”. These completely new nanodevices are now integrated on silicon devices towards forthcoming internet of things (IoT) era, which will drastically change our daily life and health.
